A sign of spring?

We don't get much wildlife here in New York, so when I heard a lovely chirping outside my window this morning, I had to grab my camera. They're not the clearest photos (I used 11x zoom), but at least I captured an image that looks like a bird...
does anyone recognize what type of bird this is?
